Hitler urges Siavonga to implement strategic plan
SIAVONGA district council should start implementing the much anticipated five-year strategic development plan announced earlier this year, Kariba ward chairperson for infrastructure development Hitler Mweemba has said.
Mr Mweemba said people in Siavonga were looking forward to the full implementation of the plan which was the only tool the local authority could use to deliver quality services to the people in the district.
He said the towns’ residents were eagerly waiting to see how the local authority would implement the strategic plan, the first time ever that the district had come up with such an initiative.
The residents, especially those in the settlements undergoing the legalization process, were excited about the plan as it aimed at providing better services to those areas, he said.
Another resident, Lobby
Milimo said the local authority should quickly get to work so that people could start benefiting from the ambitious plan.
He said the council had already wasted a year as
2018 was ending without implementing the strategic plan.
''Let the local authority get to work and start implementing what they have set for themselves so that we residents can start benefiting from the ambitious plan," he said.
The Siavonga district council has come up with a strategic plan plan covering 2018-2022 aimed at improving service delivery to the country’s second biggest tourist destination.
The plan, which will serve as a blueprint for delivering development to the resort town over the next five years, identifies key challenges faced in the past and how to move forward in addressing them in the delivery of services.
The plan outlines the vision, mission and strategic objectives for service delivery as well as the activities to embark upon to realise the vision to build and strengthen the local authority's capacity to deliver to the residents.
