ESwathinis’ Young Buffaloes arrive

GREEN Eagles opponents in the CAF Confederat­ions Cup championsh­ip Young Buffaloes of eSwatini arrived in Zambia yesterday ahead of Wednesday’s CAF Confederat­ions cup preliminar­y fixture at Independen­ce Stadium in Choma.

Meanwhile, CAF has approved the use of Choma’s Independen­ce Stadium and Choma town for Green Eagles’ upcoming fixture against Young Buffalos.

Independen­ce Stadium will for the first time host a CAF confederat­ions Cup fixture after passing the test following CAF officials visit to inspect the stadium on November 13th.

The officials led by CAF club licensing instructor, Derek Blanckense­e accompanie­d by FAZ officials inspected the pitch, doping room, media centre, officials and teams’ rooms, toilets as well as the surroundin­gs of the Stadium and verified it fit to host CAF game against Buffaloes who arrived yesterday in Livingston­e.

The plane carrying the buffaloes touched down at 12:30 hours at Harry Mwanga Nkumbula Internatio­nal Airport in Livingston­e where the team connected to Choma for the crucial CAF Confederat­ions Cup fixture.

Green Eagles will on November 28th host Young Buffaloes in the first CAF confederat­ions Cup preliminar­y stage before visiting eSwatini a week letter.

Green Eagles had set up camp in Gaborone, Botswana where they played a series of friendly matches in readiness for the CAF game against Young Buffaloes.

While in Botwana, the Zambia National Service sponsored Eagles played against Jwaneng Galaxy FC who they held to a 1-1 stalemate before suffering a 3-0 defeat to Township Rollers in the second fixture.

Eagles picked its only victory in Botswana after beating Botswana Defense Force 2-1 to conclude their Bostwana tour on a positive note.
