Arrest of Bishop John General for swindling a woman timely
Dear Editor, BISHOP John Nundwe, aged 46 and popularly known as John General of Miracle Impact Ministries International Church of Matero Township in Lusaka and his two fellow pastors were arrested last Thursday for swindling Ms Matilda Mwanza of her K51, 000.00.
The other nabbed pastors are Bishop John General’s wife Maureen Kakwende aged 35 and is an accountant for the church and Paul Kambazo, aged 56.
The alleged crime was committed in March 2016. The victim, Ms Mwanza and a resident of Foxdale had a cheque of K70, 000.00 and she had a problem of toothache.
When the victim met Pastor Kambazo and narrated her toothache problem to him, he promised to introduce her to Bishop John so that she could be prayed for.
The victim was requested to pay K21, 000.00 as tithe for four months in advance after initially withdrawing K40, 000. 00 from her account. She gave the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card to Maureen.
It was later discovered that the K30, 000.00 was not in the account as she attempted to withdraw the money. This was when the ATM card was returned to her by Maureen. Thus, bringing the total of K51, 000.00 swindled amount.
It is unfortunate that some pastors have continued swindling congregants of their hard earned money.
Bishop John and his accomplices have since been released on police bond and they will soon appear in court.
The trio should face the full wrath of the law. Ultimately, this will deter other would-be offenders.
