Solwezi council records over 2, 000 households for upgrade
SOLWEZI Municipal Council has from November 12 this year to date captured 2,146 households in Solwezi towards the local authority’s plans of upgrading 13 rural settlements to urban settlements in the district.
The local authority’s assistant public relations manager Esther Chirwa confirmed the development in an interview.
Ms Chirwa saidthat 524 households have been captured in Messengers compound, 534 in Kizhingezhinge and 545 and 543 in Kazomba and kyawama compounds respectively.

the National Land Titling program which is aimed at issuing land titles to settlers in selected compounds without title deeds countrywide.
‘From the time the exercise started, we have captured over 2000 households out of the targeted number,’’ Ms Chirwa said. She said under the same exercise, the local authority is targeting to capture about 10, 000 households saying the municipality is happy with the overwhelming support it is receiving from the general public.
She said the program is on-going saying people should not hesitate to be captured in the data system.
‘’Our appeal as a municipality is that let the general public continue with the support they have shown so far so that the exercise becomes a success and benefits everyone in the district,’’ she said.
