South Africa Group C.E.O Calvo Mawela has said his company will continue to provide local content to remain Africa's best story teller.

Speaking at the MultiChoice Southern Africa Media Showcase 2018, themed 'Nobody Does Storytelling Like We Do,' held at MultiChoice City Cinema in South Africa, Mawela said his firm believes in providing strong local content and sports that is lovable by its customers.

" We understand the African market and are well positioned to champion South Africa and the rest of Africa in this fight through our great content, technology and knowledge of our markets. We are Africa’s best story teller," he said.

"MultiChoice believes in strong local content and sports and our mission is to deliver the shows that our customers love into their hands and their living rooms."

He added that this is mainly because customers want content that is relevant to them.

"Customers are chasing the content that is relevant to them – they will get access to all the content that they can get regardless of the platform. As we continue to invest in our online offering, we are able to catch those customers who are only interested in online through our DStv Now and Showmax offerings," said Mawela.

At the the same event, Timothy Okwaro, Channel Director - East and Southern Africa Channels for M-Net announced that Zambezi Magic is looking for five new film concepts that depict the authentic African experience and reflect the nuances of the Southern region. Filmmakers from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Namibia, Swaziland and Botswana are encouraged to submit their proposals on M-Net’s submissions portal before 31 December 2018.
