LWANDAMINA SALUTES ZESCO

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

ZESCO United FC coach George Lwandamina has hailed his team for starting the 2018 CAF Champions league on a positive note.

Zesco United beat Sonidep of Niger 1-2 to begin their CAF champion’s league campaign.

Substitute Rahim Osuman and Lazarus Kambole’s goals in the second half were enough to see Lwandamina’s boys triumph in an away encounter.

Speaking in a post-match interview Lwandamina described the game as tough which Zesco won despite not preparing adequately for the encounter.

“I would like to congratulate the boys it wasn’t an easy game like I said before there are no shortcuts in football, we are just a few weeks in our preparations and we made this trip to Niger.

“If you saw the guys the way they played, we never played any competitive friendly game but they tried. Winning this game is just a bonus. There are no shot cuts in football but kudos to the boys they did their best,” Lwandamina said.

Meanwhile Green Eagles coach Aggrey Chiyangi praised his boys for beating Young Buffaloes from eSwatini 2-0 in their historical CAF Confederations Cup preliminary fixture played on Tuesday in Choma.

“It was a very tough game, Young Buffaloes are a good side, you can tell that they have played Confederations Cup

football from the way they are playing but football being what it is we were plaing home and our target was to get a positive result which we did. It was not easy our players were under pressure because we were playing for the first time but a good game because we won,” Chiyangi said.

And Young Buffaloes coach Dominic Kunene said that he was not disappointed with his team’s defeat to.

Kunene noted that his players played well and created chances but were unfortunate as they failed to find the back of the net.

The two teams will next week meet in eSwatini with Buffaloes aiming to redeem themselves from the 2-0 defeat suffered to Eagles in Choma.
