‘Kambwili should apologise to Katanga’
NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) consultant Chishimba Kambwili must apologise to Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga for the disrespectful sentiments he uttered against her, Patriotic Front Media Director Sunday Chanda has demanded.
Mr Chanda described the way Mr Kambwili, who is Roan Member of Parliament addressed Ms Katanga as unacceptable and offensive to women.
He called on the women’s movement and the church to condemn the demeaning of women especially that Mr Kambwili had done it during the 16 days of activism against Gender Based Violence (GBV).
Mr Chanda was speaking during the PF interactive forum in Lusaka yesterday.
“How can a man who has children and a wife use insulting language on another woman,” Mr Chanda wondered.
He also called on Mr Kambwili and Bahati Member of Parliament Harry Kalaba to resign from the party on moral grounds because they no longer ascribed it’s ideals.
He also congratulated the United Party for National Development (UPND) on the 20th anniversary and urged them to change their plan if they were to remain relevant because they kept losing momentum by the day.
And speaking at the same function, Presidential Empowerment Initiative Fund (PEIF) national coordinator Clement Tembo disclosed that K13.8 million had been disbursed to 700 women clubs in five provinces.
Mr Tembo also said10 schools and 12 churches had also benefitted from the funds.
He said the fund had managed to cater for a lot of people because it was a revolving fund.
“The fund is 10 percent President Edgar Lungu’s salary and contributions from well-wishers,” Mr Tembo said.
