Cheshire Homes comes to aid of Girl
CHESHIRE Homes Society of Zambia (CHSZ) have donated a wheel chair to a nine year old girl of Lusaka’s Lilanda Township identified as Purity who is physically handicapped so that she can improve her mobility.
Making the donation on behalf of Cheshire Homes Society Zambia, global and regional coordinator Sajal Gupta said the main aim of the society was to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities by campaigning for the removal of all forms of barriers that hinder them from achieving their fullest potential.
Mr Gupta however disclosed that, Purity was suffering from physical disability associated with cerebral palsy.
“We will continue to support children with disabilities to improve their participation in various activities within their families, communities and schools, “he said
Mr Gupta said the girl was not able to perform routine activities due to mobility challenges.
He said his organisation aims to improve access to health care through support of surgical intervention and therapy to children with disabilities.
“CHSZ is a charity organisation serving persons with disabilities in Zambia in the last 45 years across Zambia in coordination with its Cheshire services and partner organisations. The programmes seek to ensure that persons with disabilities are supported to achieve their rights to education, employment, sustainable livelihood, healthcare and other basic services,” said Mr Gupta.
And Purity’s mother, Lilian Musonda thanked Cheshire Homes for coming to their aid.
