- By NATION REPORTER

PARENTS should not marry off their children especially the girl-child at a tender age, says Kalumbila District Education board secretary Mutinta Mubanga.

Ms Mubanga said the girl -child should be protected at all costs.

Ms Mubanga was speaking yesterday during the handing over of a kitchen, school dining hall, refurbished and fenced girls dormitory and three VIP toilets at Jiwundu Secondary School by Kalumbila Minerals Limited.

‘’Let me also take this opportunity to advise our school going children especially the girls that you must concentrate on education because you are the future leaders of this nation.

‘’Don’t fall prey to bad vices. Remember, without education, then you are doomed,’’ she added.

Meanwhile, Ms Mubanga has expressed concern on the enrolment of pupils at the school. She called on parents to enrol their children in schools stating that education was the key to success.

Ms Mubanga said it was important that both parents in the district and her office shared value systems that would benefit the community and the country as a whole.

‘’Therefore my hope that the transformation we are seeing in the district in terms of infrastructure development mirrors the indifferences the goals that we have as a district,’’ Ms Mubanga said. She thanked the mining firm for being a reliable partner to government.

She said the firm has involved her officers in terms of planning of education infrastructure in the district.

Don’t fall prey to bad vices. Remember, without education, then you are doomed.” — Ms Mubanga.
