Nothing sinister about mounting mayor Sampa’s billboard in Katuba

-

Dear editor, LUSAKA Mayor Miles Bwalya Sampa’s billboard was recently pulled down in Katuba constituency by a UPND member.

The bone of contention was that the board was not supposed to be erected in Katuba constituency. If truth be told; it is this one: there is no law which stipulates that the billboard can only be mounted in certain areas. I stand to be corrected on this one.

Any Zambian leader can put the billboard in any part of the country. Honestly speaking, Mr. Sampa is not just the mayor but, mayor of the Greater City of Lusaka.

The other thing worth noting is that these billboards cost money to be mounted in a particular area; the cheapest being K1.500.00.

What that UPND member did was wrong.

This is because she could have liaised with Mayor Sampa over the mounting of the billboard rather than tearing it down just like she did.

It was good that the law enforcers moved in to summon her.

Mayor Sampa’s decision to mount his billboard was misconstrued by some people of Katuba.

Mr. Sampa’s action doesn’t mean that he is trying to hijack the development projects in the constituency let alone the leadership.

In my considered view, I feel there is nothing sinister about Mayor Sampa mounting his billboard in Katuba constituency. ELEMIYA PHIRI Lusaka.
