Kalumbila TC boss focuses on development agenda
KALUMBILA Town Council chairperson Olix Kakwata says it is important to focus on the growth of the district with the desired development agenda that will meet the desire of the people.
Mr Kakwata noted that the growth of Kalumbila district had increased day by day since it was created in 2015 by President Edgar Lungu.
He also observed that the number of people had also increased due to the mining opportunities that were presently available in the district.
‘’And this planning can only be achieved through concerted efforts by all stakeholders by promoting citizen participation in governance spaces as essential components in ensuring public service delivery is effectively provided at a local level,’’ Mr Kakwata said. He was speaking during a two-day workshop on the roles and responsibilities of the Local Authority as well as integrated development plans held in Kalumbila yesterday.
He said the recent launch of the the guidelines for the integrated development plan by the minister of Local Government and Housing Vincent Mwale will provide the much needed guidance to local authorities across the country.
‘’And help in shaping the development so that planning does not leave anyone behind,’’ he said.
He commended the organisers for holding the workshop on the roles and responsibilities of the local authorities.
