ZAMBIA SEEKS ISRAELI TOURISM PACKAGE

Dr Banda said Zambia was keen to enter into agreements with other countries in sustainable tourism initiatives.

The minister was speaking when he met Director General of the Israeli Nature and Parks Authority (INPA) Shaul Goldstein at the International Mediterranean Tourism Market Fair (IMTM) in Israel. INPA and the Zambian Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in national parks management and development. The MoU would include preservation of cultural, heritage sites and packaging them as tourism products, training of local people as tour guides and technical support towards capacity building and handling human wildlife conflicts.

Dr Banda said partnerships and working were important in critical tors of the economy such as tourism.

And Mr Goldstein said INPA officials would travel to Zambia in September this year to discuss the terms of the MoU and if possible, conclude the process during the planned visit to Zambia.
