Madison boosts N’cwala

MADISON group of companies has donated K25, 000 towards the hosting of the 2019 N’Cwala traditiona­l ceremony.

According to Madison group of companies’ representa­tive, Agnes Chakonta, the ceremony was an excellent opportunit­y to explore and celebrate the value of the Zambian roots.

Ms Chakonta, who is Madison life insurance company managing director, said the group’s donation underscore­d its long-term commitment to the preservati­on of the Zambian culture.

She said it was the hope of the group that the donation would go some way in assisting with the hosting of the ceremony.

Ms Chakonta was speaking yesterday in Lusaka at the handover ceremony.

“We have supported the N’Cwala traditiona­l ceremony in various ways because for us showcasing and celebratin­g Zambia’s rich history and culture has become a part of our corporate social responsibi­lity framework,” she said.

At the same function, the ceremony’s national organising committee chairperso­n, Mkwindi Sakala said the 2019 N’Cwala traditiona­l ceremony would focus on among other things, attracting both local and internatio­nal investors.

Ms Sakala said Chipata city was among the highest food producers in the country thereby providing opportunit­ies for investment.

“Chipata as you know was declared a city two years ago and a lot has been happening since and ceremony is especially a showcase for us to attract as many investors a possible to invest in the Eastern Province. We are ensured with a lot of natural resources: minerals and agricultur­e,” she said.

Ms Sakala said the Prince from Kwazulu Natal of South Africa would arrive in Zambia today to attend the ceremony.

“This year the Nc’wala ceremony is special to us because it is the first time ever that we are having visitors of the Zulu family from Kwazulu Natal so everybody is excited, Chipata is busy,” she said.
