First Lady hails Germans’ help

FIRST Lady Esther Lung has expressed gratitude over the donation of assorted medical supplies destined for Nangoma clinic in Central Province from Germany through the Esther Lungu Foundation.

First Secretary for press embassy at the Zambian embassy in Berlin, Kellys Kaunda, said the medicine was sources by the ambassador, Mr Anthony Mukwita who is also accredited to Slovenia.

Mr. Kaunda said Mr. Mukwita notified Ms. Lungu that the donation will be coming from a group of junior medical doctors calling themselves “Humanitary-Medical Zambia 2019” from the University of Ljubljana, who were inspired by her charity work.

He said the young doctors were greatly encouraged by the humanitari­an work the First Lady has been doing especially for people in the rural areas hence the outreach and that the group would be travelling to Zambia in March.

He said Ms. Lungu has since thanked Mr. Mukwita and accepted to help the “Humanitary-Medical Zambia 2019” to get the medical equipment to its desired destinatio­n through the Esther Lungu Foundation.

“The First Lady is happy that her charity work is gaining traction locally and abroad and describes this donation and many before it as invaluable as they consequent­ly improve lives of vulnerable people in society,” Mr. Mukwita said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Lungu’s charity work and reputation has continued to attract a lot partnershi­ps that want to complement her Samaritan work from within Zambia and beyond with an NGO in Poland having also approached the Zambian embassy in Germany to seek partnershi­p with her on reducing infant mortality or the death of babies at birth, including that of mothers.
