Cleaning exercise cheers Luanshya mayor

LUANSHYA Mayor Nathan Chanda is confident that the Make Zambia clean, green and healthy campaign has a bright future in the mining town because the initiative is stakeholde­r driven.

Mr. Chanda said the manner in which stakeholde­rs were voluntaril­y participat­ing in the cleaning exercise every last Saturday of the month in the mining town was overwhelmi­ng.

He said stakeholde­r participat­ion and the realisatio­n that they were capable of changing the face of the town through team work and consistent efforts had helped the municipali­ty in realising a clean and cholera free Luanshya, a dream he said was not farfetched but something achievable.

“I want to thank personnel from ZAMEFA, Shoprite, Luanshya Municipal Council, the District Administra­tion, Zambia Police Service, Zambia Correction­al Services and the Bus and Taxi Drivers Associatio­n and the ruling party’s district leadership for demonstrat­ing commitment in cleaning different parts of Luanshya every last Saturday of the month and I want to urge other stakeholde­rs to emulate them,” he said.

ZAMEFA human capital and employee relations officer, Angela Zimba said the national cleaning day was a wonderful exercise which deserved to be supported by all companies and individual residents who truly wanted Luanshya to change for the better.
