Cleaning exercise cheers Luanshya mayor
LUANSHYA Mayor Nathan Chanda is confident that the Make Zambia clean, green and healthy campaign has a bright future in the mining town because the initiative is stakeholder driven.
Mr. Chanda said the manner in which stakeholders were voluntarily participating in the cleaning exercise every last Saturday of the month in the mining town was overwhelming.
He said stakeholder participation and the realisation that they were capable of changing the face of the town through team work and consistent efforts had helped the municipality in realising a clean and cholera free Luanshya, a dream he said was not farfetched but something achievable.
“I want to thank personnel from ZAMEFA, Shoprite, Luanshya Municipal Council, the District Administration, Zambia Police Service, Zambia Correctional Services and the Bus and Taxi Drivers Association and the ruling party’s district leadership for demonstrating commitment in cleaning different parts of Luanshya every last Saturday of the month and I want to urge other stakeholders to emulate them,” he said.
ZAMEFA human capital and employee relations officer, Angela Zimba said the national cleaning day was a wonderful exercise which deserved to be supported by all companies and individual residents who truly wanted Luanshya to change for the better.
