LADIES CIRCLE PUMPS IN K100, 000 TOWARDS SCHOOL REFURBISHMENT

- BY MOSES SINJWALA

WE have raised about K100,000 towards construction and refurbishment of a two classroom block at Desai Primary School special needs unit for the hearing impaired, says Lusaka Ladies Circle Chairperson Telisha Kufekisa.

Ms Kufekisa observed that the majority of vulnerable children had been over looked in society and do not receive the much needed support and care.

She said it was for this reason that Lusaka’s Ladies circle number 4 adopted the Desai Primary school special needs unit in Lusaka’s Desai compound.

Ms Kufekisa said the funds that were raised during the fundraising charity ball will go towards the refurbishment of the home economics class which would cater for about 1,120 children.

And Director of special education at the Ministry of General Education Cecilia Sakala commended the organisation for supplementing Government’s efforts in the provision of quality education for children with special needs.

She said children with special needs also required support as they were fundamental pillars to the nation.

Ms Sakala however, noted that children with special needs like the ones at Desai Primary School did not receive the much needed required support in order for them to break through in life.

She said the support given to the school would play a big role in the lives of the children at Desai primary school.

Funds that were raised during the fundraising charity ball will go towards the refurbishment of the home economics class which would cater for about 1,120 children.
