Mufumbwe MP counsels residents on projects

- By NATION REPORTER

MUFUMBWE Member of Parliament Eliot Kamondo has appealed to the people in the constituency to take keen interest in monitoring projects that are being undertaken using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Mr Kamondo told the Daily

So, once they apply for funding and the projects are approved and funds are allocated, they should take keen interest so that they receive the value for their money.’’ — Mr Kamondo.

Nation in an interview that the CDF was public money realised from taxes, hence the need for the people to get involved in project monitoring.

He said they should not remain idle because the money was meant to develop their areas.

‘’So, once they apply for funding and the projects are approved and funds are allocated, they should take keen interest so that they receive the value for their money,’’ he said.

Mr Kamondo said that residents should not allow people that were undertaking the projects to deliver shoddy works.

‘’Because what has been happening is that most of the communities would not take keen interest in monitoring the works. Instead they would want a Member of Parliament to come and supervise the works forgetting that as MPs we have a lot of duties.

‘’We may be in Parliament for more than two to three months. So the moment a project starts, members of the public should be there monitoring and make sure that the contractors are doing the right thing,’’ he said.
