CONFUSION ROCKS KAMBWILI, NDC
CCONFUSION has persisted in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as squabbling continues among senior party officials.
Reconciliation efforts appear to have failed after top party officials dismissed claims that a meeting to discuss their differences was held successfully last week.
When party vice president, Joseph Akafumba told journalists in Lusaka that he had successfully held a meeting to reconcile NDC secretary general, Mwenya Musenge and party consultant Chishimba, Mr Musenge immediately rubbished the claims.
And Mr Kambwili told the Daily Nation that he did not attend the alleged reconciliation meeting.
He said that no one from the party had communicated to him about a reconciliation meeting.
“I was not in that meeting, no one communicated to me over the reconciliation meeting. I was not part of that meeting,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Kambwili said he could not reconcile with Mr Musenge because nothing had happened between the two to warrant reconciliation.
Mr Kambwili said Mr Musenge could only reconcile with the NDC because it was the one he had differed with.
“Musenge cannot reconcile with me but it is him and the party who need to sort out the differences, he said.
“What is it going to do with me about the differences Musenge is having with the party. So I cannot reconcile with Musenge who I have never diferred with,” Mr Kambwili said.
Mr Kambwili said Mr Musenge would continue to be his brother and the relationship would continue to grow.
Recently the former Roan lawmaker rejected his expulsion from the NDC, saying that Mr Musenge was junior party official to expel him from the party.
Mr Kambwili said he formed the political party, he was the only person who could make decisions for the party.
But Mr Musenge said Mr Kambwili was just hired as a consultant and could not claim to be the founder of the NDC.
Mr Musenge said Mr Kambwili must be genuine in his dealings for the people to instill confidence and trust in him.
