MORE WANT MKUSHI PF POLLS NULLIFIED
CALLS by disgruntled Patriotic Front (PF) members to nullify the recent intra party elections in Mkushi have intensified.
The members have started coming out in the open, calling for nullification of the results for the need to conduct fresh elections.
Marley Chisenga, 83, a long serving politician joined the band wagon accusing Central Province PF chairman Chanda Mutale of practicing politics of intimidation to deprive people the right to participate and contest.
Mr. Chisenga said, democracy was the power from the people by the people and for the people hence the need for people to choose their leaders freely without intimidation.
Mr. Musonda further said throughout his political experience, he had never witnessed that kind of intimidation.
"I was surprised with the provincial chairman's statement for defending the position of district and constituency chairmen that they should not be challenged.
“In democracy, you allow people to participate and choose their leaders without intimidation. I was prompted to withdraw my candidature and got my K10," Mr. Musonda said.
Elections should be cancelled and fresh ones called because they were not free and fair.
Eshinele Musonda also said she had withdrawn her candidature due to intimidation by Mr. Mutale and had since got her K10 participation fee.
“The recent intra party elections should be nullified because we were oppressed and intimidated. The elections were not free and fair," Ms Musonda said.
And Munsakamba ward information and publicity secretary Getson Kapotesha reiterated the call to declare the elections null and void because they were not a true reflection of the will of the people because of intimidation. Mr. Kapotesha who is also Imbalasa ye Lala ne Swaka Association secretary said he was disappointed with Mr. Mutale's address which was full of intimidation and that those who wanted to contest the elections were jealous of office bearers.
