‘Kambwili messed up NDC’
THE National Democratic Congress (NDC) party had a bright future, but Chishimba Kambwili contaminated it with his childishness and arrogance, former NDC Mufulira district chairperson Eugene Zulu has charged.
Mr Zulu who led the entire Mufulira NDC youth wing comprising about 300 young people in ditching NDC to rejoin the Patriotic Front (PF) on Saturday, told the Daily Nation in an interview yesterday that NDC lost its direction when it brought on board Mr Kambwili as its consultant.
He said Mr Kambwili brought nothing, but confusion to the party, accusing him of being childish and pompous.
“NDC started very well, but the coming in of Kambwili messed up everything.
I thought Kambwili would make a good leader when he joined the party, but I was wrong, instead he messed it up. He is so childish and selfish, you have to be a strong person to work with Kambwili. “He is a very stubborn man, we told him to stop his insults and resign to be the president of NDC, but he refused because he wanted to be eating from both sides, not until he was kicked out of PF,” Mr Zulu said.
He also accused Mr Kambwili of turning NDC into a ‘ comedy group’ when he announced that he had fired the founder and secretary-general of the party Mwenya Musenge. “I talked to him on phone, that he can’t fire the secretary general of the party, because he was just a consultant.
I asked him to reunite, because we cannot let the party that we have sacrificed for go down just like this but he never listened,” he said.
And Mr Zulu has pledged to work with the PF leadership on the Copperbelt and bring back all people who left PF to join NDC.He said the NDC had lost its direction, hence there was nothing to hold on to in the party.
“I will work hard with the people I found in PF. I want to make sure that in 2021 we change the mind-set of people who went to NDC to re-join PF so that we can give President Edgar Lungu the required 50+1 vote,” he said.
