Kambwili says Musenge talks ‘nonsense’

- By SILUMESI MALUMO

MWENYA Musenge talks nonsense and I will not waste my precious time on him, National Democratic Congress Party (NDC) Consultant Chishimba Kambwili has charged. Mr Kambwili was reacting to NDC secretary general, Mr Musenge’s pronouncement that the NDC Central Committee was still to decide on his fate regarding membership of the party.

The two NDC leaders have been at each other’s throats over the leadership of the new opposition party.

Both claim to have created the NDC and have since fired each other from the party.

Recently, Mr Musenge told Mr Kambwili never to speak on behalf of the party as he was no longer the consultant.

The stance however angered the former Roan Member of Parliament, who claimed to be the founder of the party and eventually suspended Mr Musenge.

NDC vice president, Joseph Akafumba convened a reconciliation meeting but both men boycotted it.

On the NDC Roan constituency victory, Mr Musenge said that despite Mr Kambwili single handedly helping the party to emerge victorious, he should apply to be considered by the central committee. He said the constitution must be respected by party members and those who were aligned to it in order to remain relevant in the political circles. When contacted, Mr Kambwili however reiterated that he would no longer waste his precious time responding to Mr Musenge. Mr Kambwili said that he would not stoop so low as to respond to ‘senseless’

talk from the NDC secretary-general because it would not help to grow the party.

“I think I will not answer to such nonsense from Mwenya Musenge. I would rather remain quiet on such matters,” he said.

And Mr Kambwili described the poster circulating on social media purporting him to be President and his running Hakainde Hichilema as fake. Mr Kambwili said the circular was total nonsense as he had no plans to be the candidate for the alliance.

He said the poster is meant to destract alliance partners and cause mistrust but that it would not work.
