The Church and the National Dialogue

- Dear Editor

IT is very sad when the church stops being the salt of the world instead want to be the meat. e church says they will not attend the government-iniated national dialogue because the whole exercise is designed to favour the PF because most of the participants are going to come from government. And that the outcomes of the dialogue are already calculated. Who says that these government o cials are all PF? What will be their interest in siding with the PF? Please do not take our Sunday obedience for foolishness. Even when we sit quietly, to listen to you. We can and we do see through you. But we fear God in heaven who is going to judge all people regardless of their vocation here on Earth. May I humbly ask any of my Lord Bishops, to tell me and the nation exactly what PF intends to do? It is not be tting of the church to be speculative. Is it not your tenet to stand and tell the truth and nothing else but the truth? Tell the truth and shame the Devil. is should be an opportunity to be seized by the Church to show the nation that there is a church in Zambia that will not allow sin to take root in our country. Attend the dialogue and tell the nation what the Church sees as right and proper changes to the Constitution. Go there and refuse to do the wrong things. Attend the dialogue and ensure PF does not do anything to it's advantage. Go there and be the peoples' watchmen. All MPs are not PF. And PF does not have numbers to pass constitutional changes. You are the only group people can trust. So my Lord Bishops, tell me how can PF manipulate the content with you and the opposition in attendance? is is one moment I am ready to agree with the opposition. All for the sake of a good Constitution for mother Zambia. e MPs who will attend the dialogue will be the same people to pass it in parliament. Why should they pass things that were not agreed upon? Don't you see this in itself as part of the safety guards for true constitutional changes to be brought to parliament? e church should be above board in all things. Do not use this invitation to hit back at Government because of your failed e orts to highjack the national dialogue. Remember vengeance is for God. Go to the dialogue and save the Zambian people from your identi ed PF ‘shannigans’. at's what a man of God does. He stands in the gap for the people. Otherwise you risk being seen as a group of people just shouting wolf like HH and party are doing. Why should I not believe you are all UPND members? KATEBE NGOSA, LUSAKA.
