EASTER CAN HEAL

-

ZAMBIANS must stand for the truth and only allow truthful companions and leaders for Jesus Christ proved that indeed he brought salvation on resurrection. When the Romans and Pharisees in Jerusalem celebrated what they thought was triumph, little did they realise that all that was short-lived as the Son of Man on the third day walked out of that dark tomb. Yes, he walked out alive to fulfil God’s promise and salvation for humankind. In the same vein, Zambians should emphatically triumph over evil by demonstrating that they can resist intimidation from greedy elements and hypocrites. They must be able to resist and gather courage to speak against doomsayers who promise manner. Invariably, are politicians who stand on anthills to promise what they know they cannot manage to achieve. Some politicians and leaders in other disciplines including some clergy profess holier than thou. They claim to be clean and obedient like the Pharisees did. Thus Easter must remind the Christian faith that even now there are some Pharisees in the religious circles and in the political arena. They should be shamed without fear. Christ himself was authoritative and stood firm against the Pharisees, who paraded in street corners with scrolls and at times feigned exhaustion as a way of showing all and sundry that they were fasting. In Matthew 23:25 Jesus rebuked them in their faces, ‘Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of cup and dish, but the inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.’ It is also incumbent upon citizens to shame those who knock on their doors to make false promises and appear clean outside when I fact their inner souls are blighted. Even in the Church today there are Pharisees who manipulate the flock just to get a quick buck out of the desperate souls. This is against what Jesus Christ stood for. He was firm even in the face of adversity. They attempted to intimidate him, but failed. ‘Destroy this temple and in three days, I raise it up,’ Jesus quipped prophetically in the face of pretenders in John 2:19. True to his prophesy, he resurrected within three days. Therefore, doubting Thomases should explore the Holy Bible in much more detail and trace Jesus’ narrative by Prophets from the Old Testament and connect it to the New Testament. There is true salvation and eternal life in Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. Zambia being a Christian nation should have political and Church leaders who are true believers with the zeal to work for the people diligently. Citizens should settle for humble leaders, who are ready to listen and serve without speaking ill of others. Zambians must reject leaders that are in the habit of unleashing a string of invectives against their opponents. If Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, leaders and the masses must emulate his lifestyle and rid this country of hostility. It is time to reconcile and heal all the wounds; emotional outbursts must be pushed to the wind for Jesus Christ has resurrected. Hosanna to the lamb of God!
