Celebrating, pain, suffering of Christ

-

Dear Editor,

Mark 10:34

“And they will mock him and spit on h and o h and h nd after three days he will rise.” Good Friday is a very important godlore for us Christians, which is celebrated to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Good Friday can also be referred to as Holy Friday. Initially it was called God’s Friday remembering Christ’s severe sufferings and death on the cross. Earlier, only Easter Sunday was celebrated as a holy day by the Christmas Church. By the fourth century, the days preceding Easter were established as holy days including Good Friday. It is believed that ‘Good’ stands for the gift of salvation brought forth by the martyrdom. Try to reminisce, there is a significant message ehind the celebration of the pain and suffering of the death of the Jesus Christ.

It gives the message that the statement “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” does not hold good every time. The only way to conquer the violence is not by hatred. Violence can be overcome through nonviolence, bad through good, hatred by love.

Each and every Christian believes that Jesus Christ came to Earth only to take away people’s sins.

Good Friday becomes a day of mourning and every rite is celebrated with the feel of sorro too. n im e find comfort and eternal life for he took away our sins.

Mark 8:31 says;

“And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again”. Indeed The Son of Most High God rose from the dead.

Thank You All. Have a blessed Good Friday and a gladden Easter Weekend! GOD BLESS! DR. BRIAN MUSHIMBA
