NORTHWEST WOMEN GET 100 HECTARES FARM LAND
KALUMBILA Minerals Limited has donated 6253 text books to 11 schools in Musele chiefdom of Kalumbila district in North western province worth K289,724.
The donation is part of the Vice President while the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries has provided 100 pigs, some goats and 500 broiler chickens.
"Hence the fundraising braai today, we want to raise funds to develop the land," she said.
And North western province Patriotic Front (PF) chairperson Jackson Kungo said the Government recognises the role of women in national development.
Mr Kungo stated that Government was undertaking various programmes countrywide aimed at uplifting the living standards of women especially the education support and contribution in schools around the mining company's catchment area.
Kalumbila’s Trident Foundation of education representative, Onward Mandevu, said the text books would provide an opportunity for the 11 schools to enhance in rural areas.
He said he was delighted that women in North-Western province had decided to work with the Government of the day.
He assured the gathering that the PF Government would continue to create an enabling environment aimed at creating empowerment initiatives.
Mr Kungo urged the organisation to take advantage of the forthcoming North-western investment expo so that they could engage in short and long term investment.
During the function, Mr Kungo donated K10,000 cash. teaching.
Dr Mandevu said it was the aim of the mining company to work with Government in improving the delivery of education within the catchment area.
"As a mining company we will endeavour to work closely with the Ministry of General Education
to improve education standards especially in the areas where we operate. This is why today we are proud to hand over these text books worth K289,724 to the 11 schools," he said.
He urged both the pupils and teachers to take full advantage of the books to further their education and build a brighter future.
And gracing the event, Kalumbila District Commissioner (DC) Robinson Kalota appreciated the mining company for donating the text books.
