PREPARATIONS for the Copperbelt Investment Expo are on course as the gates open on June 24 for three-day event, the Daily Nation has learnt.
The expo which will take place at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola has been dubbed ‘mother of all expos’ to attract both local and international exhibitors.
According to a notice obtained in Ndola yesterday, a number of exhibitors and trade visitors were expected to attend Zambia’s biggest investment expo.
The notice said exhibitors from various sectors such as tourism, mining, forestry, and agriculture would be on hand to showcase massive investment opportunities.
It will be held under the theme, ‘‘broadening the Copperbelt economy through diversified investment’.
“By registering as a delegate, you will be taken to see investment opportunities in several of the 10 districts and have an opportunity to meet key promoters of the projects at hand.
“Spectacular sites such as Chembe Bird Sanctuary, Dag Hammarsjold memorial site, Lake Kashiba, Chimfunshi Chimpanzee Orphanage and Kapisha Hot Springs are waiting for you,” the notice said.
Local delegates would be required to pay K2000 while VIP delegates’ charge has been pegged at K5000 with foreign delegates expected to pay $300.
The notice indicated that registration can and payments were being done online or through cheque or bank transfers.
“You will not find better investment opportunities anywhere else in the country. Emerald mining is ready, forestry is ready, tourism is ready, Copperbelt is ready, Zambia is ready,” the notice said.
Copperbelt Permanent Secretary, Bright Nundwe, has directed the local authorities, parastatal organisations, Government departments and private sectors players on the Copperbelt to get actively involved in the preparations.
He has particularly encouraged Ndola City Council to impress upon all business entities to apply a fresh coat of paint on their buildings.
