IT IS NOT FOR PRESIDENT LUNGU TO EXPLAIN THE FIC REPORT

- FRANCIS MKUNTHA.

Dear Editor,

PLEASE allow me a little space in your newspaper to comment on UPND president Hakainde Hichilema challenging President Edgar Lungu to inform the nation on what was done to those cited in the 2017 FIC report. HH says the rampant corruption and economic sabotage reported in the Financial Intelligence Centre’s 2018 Trends Report does not only make sad reading for a country that is in such a terrible economic crises, it actually tells us how arrogant the PF Government is, and how and determined they are to continue looting the fortunes of our country. How interesting. I still stop here and refer Mr Hichilema to one of the teachings in the holy Bible which talks about pointing a log in your friend’s eye when you have two.

Maybe Mr Hichilema has forgotten about the reports in the international media claiming that he is one of the many politicians across the world that have used tax havens for tax dodging purposes? Are you not the same Hakainde Sammy Hichilema who was also exposed in the Paradise Papers for under declaring his net worth leaving out assets abroad which are denying his home country the much-needed tax? For me, I think this also needs a lot of explanation to the people of Zambia because you are indeed a Zambian corporate executive with interests in mining, finance and other industries where you are minting billions. I also think that it’s not the job of President Lungu to tell who has been prosecuted or not but the law enforcement agencies and Mr Hichilema you know them too well. Lastly, they say that if you live in a glass house, do not throw stones.

I also think that it’s not the job of President Lungu to tell who has been prosecuted or not but the law enforcement agencies and Mr Hichilema you know them too well.
