STOP PEDDLING FALSEHOODS, OPPOSITION LEADERS TOLD

leaders should stop peddling lies because this has potential to compromise the country’s peace and democracy, former UPND presidenti­al advisor Richard Kachingwe has said.

Major Kachingwe said there was too much lying among opposition leaders which he stated was bad for the country’s democracy.

Maj Kachingwe said it was shocking that opposition leaders whom he described as being unpatrioti­c, had resorted to peddling lies.

The lies, if left unchecked, would could endanger the country’s peace and developmen­t Maj Kachingwe added.

He said it was sad that opposition were spreading falsehoods to mislead the internatio­nal community about the situation in the country.

Maj Kachingwe told the Daily Nation in an interview that it was retrogress­ive for the leaders vying for higher office to engage in scandalisi­ng the nation.

He said people vying for higher office should be credible.

Maj Kachingwe said advised such leaders against peddling falsehoods if they genuinely wanted to be supported by the people.

“The only challenge the country has is the crop of opposition leaders who are have resorted to lies. Leaders must be credible and operate above dignity.

“They should not just say anything that suits them, this is so painful because they are endangerin­g the peace which the Zambians have enjoyed since inception,” he said.

Maj Kachingwe urged opposition leaders to engage in mature politics.
