Govt warns KCM enemies
WE HAVE launched a vigorous and vicious undertaking to root out individuals involved in stripping, vandalising or sabotaging assets at KCM and there will be no exception regardless of which country they come from, Minister of Mines and Mineral Development Richard Musukwa has warned. Vedanta has said it is not part of the sabotage syndicate at KCM as it does not have access to any operational site or o ce and that it has never contacted any of KCM sta for over three weeks. But Mr Musukwa said the “guilty” were always afraid. “Anyone who is involved in stripping, vandalising or sabotaging our assets at KCM is an enemy of the people of Zambia and we have commenced a vicious undertaking to ensure that anyone who is associated with this culture is rooted out whether Zambia or Indian,” he said. “Perpetrators of sabotage will be rooted out. ey will face the full wrath of the law because KCM is too big to fail. is is our asset. We know that they have created a media team in South Africa dedicated to ght us, but we are ready for them. ey should have put up such a dedicated team to recapitalise KCM,” Mr Musukwa said. He said despite the mudslinging campaign against Government by Vedanta, Zambia has remained a preferred destination for investment. “Zambia remains a prefeMr Musukwa said if Vedanta was serious with recapitalising KCM, it would have taken advantage of engagement opportunities they were given to discuss the matter with President Edgar Lungu,” he said.
