Govt warns KCM enemies

WE HAVE launched a vigorous and vicious undertakin­g to root out individual­s involved in stripping, vandalisin­g or sabotaging assets at KCM and there will be no exception regardless of which country they come from, Minister of Mines and Mineral Developmen­t Richard Musukwa has warned. Vedanta has said it is not part of the sabotage syndicate at KCM as it does not have access to any operationa­l site or o ce and that it has never contacted any of KCM sta for over three weeks. But Mr Musukwa said the “guilty” were always afraid. “Anyone who is involved in stripping, vandalisin­g or sabotaging our assets at KCM is an enemy of the people of Zambia and we have commenced a vicious undertakin­g to ensure that anyone who is associated with this culture is rooted out whether Zambia or Indian,” he said. “Perpetrato­rs of sabotage will be rooted out. ey will face the full wrath of the law because KCM is too big to fail. is is our asset. We know that they have created a media team in South Africa dedicated to ght us, but we are ready for them. ey should have put up such a dedicated team to recapitali­se KCM,” Mr Musukwa said. He said despite the mudslingin­g campaign against Government by Vedanta, Zambia has remained a preferred destinatio­n for investment. “Zambia remains a prefeMr Musukwa said if Vedanta was serious with recapitali­sing KCM, it would have taken advantage of engagement opportunit­ies they were given to discuss the matter with President Edgar Lungu,” he said.
