Govt receives K4.2m projects in Mumbwa
WORLD Vision Zambia has handed over various infrastructure investment projects to Government in Mumbwa totaling K4.2 million.
World Vision Zambia board member Mumba Kapumpa said they had embarked on ambitious developmental projects aimed at transforming lives of one million children by 2021 through a holistic package of interventions.
Mr Kapumpa said it was for this reason that the organisation had constructed a 1 by 3 classroom block and staff houses at Kenneth Kaunda Community School at a total cost K927, 893.
The project, he stated, would help reduce overcrowding in classes and enhance access to quality education in the community.
Mr Kapumpa also said construction of staff houses at Moomba Primary School, 53 boreholes and the provision of piped water was in line with government’s agenda of providing clean and safe water to all Zambians in line with the 7th National Development Plan.
Mr Kapumpa observed that provision of safe and clean water, sanitation and practicing better hygiene methods was key to reducing diarrhea and cholera which had remained the main killers of children under the ages of five.
“We have put up 53 boreholes across the world vision catchment area in Mumbwa district, water mechanised systems at Nakanjoli Primary School, Nalusanga Secondary School and Shumbwe communities at a total cost of K 23, 608.
He said 9, 370 children and 14, 234 adults had benefited from the projects so far.
And speaking when he received the projects, Minister of General Education David Mabumba said World Vision would remain Government’s key development partner as it endeavoured to provide not just education but agriculture, health and water sanitation in the country.
Mr Mabumba said the investment made in both education, water and sanitation and health was a demonstration of the organisation’s commitment towards empowering Zambians.
