PF Chief warns 2021 ‘aspiring MPs’
PATRIOTIC Front Secretary- General Davies Mwila has warned members aspiring to contest as Members of Parliament (MPs) in 2021 not to interfere with the work of the incumbent parliamentarians.
Mr Mwila said PF members aspiring to stand in 2021 should wait for the appropriate time and allow the serving MPs to do their work without interference.
He issued the warning during a mobilisation meeting for the Lubwa ward by-election at Buchi Hall in Kitwe yesterday
“Those who want to stand in 2021 should wait and give chance to the incumbent members to work, if they want to stand, time will come. If they don’t agree I’ll strike a whip and it will end there. The central committee sat last month and we made a decision that no one should interfere with the work of incumbent MPs,” he said.
Mr Mwila called for unity between MPs and councillors and urged them to put their differences aside.
He also directed all PF MPs to adhere to protocol and always meet district leadership whenever they were in their constituencies.
Mr Mwila added that all MPs were answerable to their district chairpersons.
He said he was aware of all the differences in Nkana and other constituencies and therefore called for unity among MPs and councillors.
Mr Mwila has also hailed Kwacha MP Joseph Malanji for his hard work and dedication to his constituency and has therefore urged all MPs to emulate him.
Mr Mwila also announced that Mr Malanji will head the campaign for Lubwa ward while his counterpart Kampamba Mulenga would deputies the operations.
At the same meeting, Kitwe PF district chairman Evaristo Chilufya appealed to the party leadership to bridge the gap between the district leadership and MPs.
“We have challenges SG. Some of the MPs we only see them on television and newspapers, so we are asking that you help us bring MPs closer to the district. When they come from Parliament tell them to come to the district and see their people as well as the district leadership,” he said.
Mr Chilufya also appealed for logistical help from the party leadership to enhance mobilisation.
He said 40 branches will be formed before nomination as the party was targeting over 4,000 votes from the 7490 registered voters in Lubwa ward.
