THE major export destination in May 2019 for Zambia was Switzerland, which accounted for 42.9 percent of the total export earnings, the Central Statistical Office monthly report has indicated.

The main export products were bullion semi-manufactured forms (Gold), accounting for 28.0 percent of total export earnings from that country. “These five countries collectively accounted for 85.6 percent of Zambia’s total export earnings in May 2019,” the report said. Switzerland, the report said, was the largest market for Zambia’s total exports while Asia was the second largest. Within this grouping, the report said, China was the dominant market with 74.1 percent while other notable were Singapore, India, Hong Kong and Japan. The report said the SADC and COMESA grouping was the third largest market for Zambia’s total exports, accounting for 14.9 percent. DRC was the dominant export market within the grouping, accounting for 76.2 percent.
