COPPERBELT ROAD REHAB WORKS SHAME DOOMSAYERS
THE resumption of road rehabilitation works in various parts of the Copperbelt is a clear indication that the Patriotic Front government and President Edgar Lungu are committed on delivering the campaign promises,'' PF members have said. e PF cadres said doomsayers who were mocking the ruling party and telling Zambians that the road rehabilitation projects had stalled inde nitely should be ashamed that the projects had resumed after the government released US$59 million for Copperbelt roads. Kitwe businessman and staunch PF supporter Humphrey Mwanjisi said the rehabilitation of the roads on the Copperbelt would give a facelift to the roads in various parts of the province. He said, a good road infrastructure was vital for national development because it would ease the transportation of goods and people from one place to the other. He said it was sad that instead of supporting and encouraging government projects, some opposition politicians were celebrating over hitches which they were facing due to nancial challenges. “A responsible Zambian or politician will not celebrate or make political mileage over a road project stalling due to nancial challenge because that road will be used by everyone regardless of his political, religious or tribal a liations. "But, you nd that some of our politicians will celebrate on such kind of development. Anyway, the good thing is that the resumption of the road rehabilitation projects on the Copperbelt is an indication of the PF government's commitment to ful lling its campaign promises,'' Mr Mwanjisi said. And Mr Mwanjisi has challenged PF leaders at various levels in Kitwe to highlight the achievements of the ruling party and defend President Lungu from disgruntled politicians who are always maligning him. He said disgruntled politicians who have nothing to o er Zambians, apart from insults, should not be allowed to continue insulting President Lungu who was trying his best to put the country on the path to economic recovery. Mr Mwanjisi said loyal and committed members of the PF should highlight the achievements of the Party and explain what the government of President Lungu was doing to address the challenges the country was facing. “As a party, we should not allow these disgruntled politicians to continue insulting President Lungu. No, we should stand up and highlight the achievements of the PF and tell those insulting President Lungu to go and put their parties in the right shape. "However, if your plans of leading Zambia is to come and improve people's lives, then God may give you that leadership. God gave President Lungu, the presidency because he saw the humility in him and he saw that he is not a vindictive person. He is not like some of these opposition leaders,'' he said.
