Germany unveils 15.7m Euro water project

The . million Euro rant to the ambian government is aimed at supporting irrigation and water management programme and will see ,000 small scale farmers benefiting from the project.
peaking at the launch, ater evelopment, anitation and Environmental rotection Minister, ennis anchinga through his irector of ater upply and anitation, rswell atoka said water resources management plays a critical role in the socio economic development of ambia and contributes greatly to sustainable growth and poverty reduction.
e said the government was committed to the water sector as demonstrated through the creation of the one stop shop dedicated to coordinating all water sector policies and programmes in the country.
Mr. anchinga said the water sector had been enshrined in the eventh ational evelopment lan that was launched by resident Edgar Lungu under the theme accelerating development efforts towards the vision 2030 without leaving anyone behind .
The minister stressed that although ambia had abundant water resources, this important resource had not yet been fully developed and e uitably distributed across the country.

e said his country through its implementing agencies , B and I had supported the water sector reforms process as well as the formation of a new institutional setup in the water sector and had provided access to safe drinking water and ade uate sanitation to more than 2 million ambians.
