‘HH must be mindful of his dwindling fortunes’

- By BENNIE MUNDANDO

HAKAINDE Hichilema must be worried about his dwindling fortunes and stop insulting the intelligence of Zambians who voted us into office, the PF in Lusaka and the Copperbelt have warned.

Mr Hichilema has been quoted by some sections of the media as claiming that no normal Zambian could vote for the PF again because it had destroyed the country.

But Lusaka Province PF secretary Kennedy Kamba and Copperbelt Province youth chairperson Don Mungulube yesterday said the UPND leader was “shooting in the dark” by persistently attacking the ruling party without taking deep introspection on why the same voters he was insulting had rejected him.

Mr Kamba said while Mr Hichilema’s frustration of perpetually losing elections was understood, insulting the intelligence of Zambians and demonising the PF would not help him in any way.

He said an opposition leader who was serious about forming Government should have learnt lessons by now and found a remedy to his endemic failures.

“Failures by nature blame others and fail to admit their shortcomings and that is the exact route Mr Hichilema has taken. By now, Mr Hichilema should have realised that his politics of hate and bitterness do not inspire Zambians. The electorates have rejected him because he offers no solutions to challenges facing them.

“Insulting the intelligence of Zambians will not help him turn around his fortunes. Insulting the PF perpetually will only make him weaker and weaker as we get to 2021 where we are determined to send him into political oblivion,” Mr Kamba said.

And Mr Mungulube said the UPND will remain in the opposition because it lacked strategists who were capable of forming Government because everything about the party hinged on Mr Hichilema.

“You cannot have a party where failures are eulogised and remain decision-makers on pertinent issues while those who have ideas are treated as traitors. You cannot have a party that is dictatorial in nature and does not allow intra-party democracy.

“Mr. Hichilema must realise that the monster eating him is not the PF but his ego and failure to read the political tide. It is sad that Mr Hichilema and his UPND have failed to re-strategise. They are doing the same things yearin-year-out yet expect to win the hearts of Zambians,” Mr Mungulube said.
