MUSHINDANO IN 100, 000 HECTARES FARM BLOC BOOST
ABOUT 100, 000 hectares has been secured in Mushindamo for the establishment of a farm bloc.
Mushindamo District Commissioner Emmanuel Chihili said in an interview that the land was in Senior Chief Kalilele and Senior Chief Mujimazovu's areas.
He said 60, 000 hectares was in Senior Chief Mujimazovu's area while 40, 000 hectares was in Senior chief Kalilele's area.
Mr. Chihili was speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation.
"We have secured100, 000 hectares of land for a farming bloc which we want to exploit for local and foreign investors to come and invest in agriculture," he said.
He said the district had
developed three bankable projects under agriculture, mining and tourism sectors to attract investors.
He said a number of investors had already shown interest to invest in Mushindano especially in the agriculture sector.
Mr Chihili urged local and foreign investors to consider setting up investments in Mushindamo because the district had a lot of potential for businesses to grow.
He said that some investors were already carrying out mining exploration in some parts of the district.
"What is taking us back is that you will nd that all the areas are already on other people's licences, “he said.
Mr Chihili appealed to line ministries to consider cancelling some of the mining licences given to some rms which were not active in the district. He also said there was urgent need to work on the road network in the district to improve accessibility and attract more investments.
Government, he said has already mobilised funds to work on the Solwezi-Kipushi road to enhance trade between Zambia and the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.
