Mr Njase said the man believed to be between 40 and 45 years, was found at Chimanembo village about 20km from Isoka town on the soka-Chibale road.

Mr Njase said police officers found signs of a struggle and a trail of blood from about 70 metres to where the body was found.

"This is suggestive that there was a struggle between the assailant and the victim and that the deceased was seemingly dragged and dumped at this point after murdering him," Mr Njase said.

Mr Njase said officers also observed multiple deep cuts in the head, the chin and on the mouth.

He said a knife that is suspected to have been used in the act has since been collected from the scene and kept as an exhibit.

“The investigations team inquired from the village headman and other people in the community for the identification of the body but they all expressed ignorance," Mr Njase said.

Mr Njase said the deceased could have been a businessman who had come to the area to buy maize and rice.

“This area is known for farming especially maize and rice, now that maize and rice have been harvested from the field and are ready for sale, it could be possible that the deceased is a business man and a stranger in the area who went to buy either maize or rice and along the way he was attacked by criminals who robbed him of his cash," he said.
