Assembly seek redemption

The Eaglets increased their chances of joining their seniors in the Super Division after beating Kansashi Dynamos in a Division One play-off at Khosa Stadium in Kafue.

NATIONAL Assembly Football Club will this afternoon seek redemption when they face Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy (KYSA) in today’s battle for Super Division quali cation at Edwin Imboela Stadium.

e Parliament­arians who suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat last Saturday in Kabwe will seek a 2-0 victory to return to the FAZ Super Division set to kick o in August.

National Assembly coach Davy Musole is con dent that the Parliament­arians will overturn the 1-0 defeat su ered in Kabwe exactly seven days ago when the two teams face o in today’s play-o .

Musole said his boys were looking forward to returning to the Super Division after beating KYSA in today’s game.

“We have the capacity to overturn the result. We played the rst 90 minutes and we have another game to go,” Musole said.

“We created chances in the last game we played against KYSA, but our strikers failed to utilise them. We will beat them without problems and we are returning to the Super Division.”

Assembly are battling to be promoted back to the FAZ Super Division for a fth time after they were rst promoted in 2003 when they enjoyed ve successive seasons playing top ight football before they were demoted in 2007.

Since then, the Lusaka side has been a ‘yo-yo’ club after su ering three brief stints in the FAZ Super Division in 2010, 2012 and 2018 but brie y enjoyed two seasons up in 2014 and 2015.

Meanwhile, a draw against National Assembly will be enough for Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy to bounce back to the FAZ Super Division after last week’s 1-0 win over the Parliament­arians.

Veteran striker Maunga Kabuku scored the winner in the 65th minute at Presidents Stadium in Kabwe to hand KYSA the advantage ahead of today’s return leg xture of the FAZ Super League quali cation playo .

In the other play-o set for tomorrow in North-Western Province, Kansashi Dynamos will aim to bounce back from Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Young Green Eagles to make a maiden appearance in the Super Division.
