A 49-YEAR-OLD charcoal burner of Masaiti has narrated in Kitwe High Court that he found the body of a Chingola taxi driver with a deep cut on the stomach in Muputa area.

Erick Zakazwao told the court that on April 2 this year he left home to go and collect his charcoal in the bush, but when he reached there the charcoal was not ready so he decided to go and visit his brother-in-law.

While at his in-law, he heard a young boy telling her grandmother that there was a dead man in the area.

Mr Zakazwao said upon hearing that, everyone went to the scene and found a crowd had gathered.

He was testifying before Kitwe Judge-in-Charge Timothy Katenekwa in a case involving, Billy Katyanka, who is alleged to have killed Joseph Mutale Mulenga, a taxi driver of Chingola.

The taxi driver is alleged to have been killed between April 1 and 2 this year in Chingola.

Mr Zakazwao told the court that he found a half pair of black and white Puma shoe and a green plastic rope at the scene.

He then asked the people at the scene if anyone had informed the police but no one did and so he called the police in Luanshya Roan station. In count two, Katyanka allegedly stole a Toyota corolla registration number AIB 9502, one Samsung phone and K2000 all together valued at K67, 000.

The vehicle belonged to Malambo Hamabola.

And a police officer, Grace Kalaba, said she uncovered a body with protruding intestines in Muputa area.

Ms Kalaba told the court that at the scene, she saw tree branches and leaves covering on the body, next to a half pair of shoes and a green rope.

Kalaba removed the leaves and saw a body with a deep cut on the stomach and intestines were protruding.

She took pictures on the scene which she presented as evidence in court.
