ZAMBIANS should continue to uphold peace and do away with politicians who want to divide the nation through tribalism and politics of insults, says Association for Fair Play- Zambia (AFP) interim president Lawrence Kaoma.

Mr Kaoma said the current political scenario of promoting tribalism, hate speech and insults was not motivating.

He urged the opposition to wait for their time and conduct issue- based politics — Lawrence Kaoma

which would help build the nation.

In an interview yesterday, Mr Kaoma said the non-partisan organisation was concerned that the core values on which Zambia was founded on by its forefathers such as the One Zambia, One Nation slogan were being flouted by those with ill intentions.

Mr Kaoma said it was unfortunate that some politicians were advocating to be voted for on tribal lines.

The organization, he added, desired to see justice in the society and anti-regionalism in all spheres of society.

“The Association for Fair Play-Zambia is a non-partisan platform advocating for democracy, peace, justice, anti-voter apathy, anti-regionalism and conflict resolution among other functions.

The organisation aims to solidify the core values which our forefathers fought for such as the One Zambia, One nation principle,” Mr Kaoma said.

He said Zambia had continued to be a shining beacon of peace as well as democracy and that a few greedy politicians should not be allowed to tarnish its image.

Mr Kaoma said national dialogue was vital and it did not matter who chaired the meeting as long as the process took place.

He said the organisation would participate in election monitoring activities in subsequent elections.
