Mkushi chamber woos businesses

- By PETER MALASHA

MKUSHI Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged local entrepreneurs to register as members to benefitfrom its services.

Secretary Mtaziwa Kumwenda said the chamber was the voice for the business sector. Mr Kumwenda said in an interview if the business houses wanted their business to blossom they should join the chamber.

He said if one wanted to grow in business, the chamber was the platform to get the business connected to the network of entrepreneurs.

Mr Kumwenda said the only way for traders in the area to expand their businesses was to join the chamber and enjoy many advantages.

He said the objective of the chamber was to ensure that the bottle necks that hampered business were reduced.

Mr Kumwenda said the

chamber promoted trade and business in Mkushi to flourish to enhance socio-economic development

"The chamber is the voice for the business community.

If you are a business person and want to grow your business from where it is today and take it to the greater heights join the chamber,” he said.

"Together, with one voice, we can grow the business sector in Zambia and become the major employment sector and grow the economy," Mr Kumwenda said.

He said there were many benefits in joining the chamber such as access to finances and market information that a bank might not give if one was not a member.

Mr Kumwenda also cited access to Government contracts as well as protection from unscrupulous businesses.

The chamber was able to use advocacy to lobby institutions to come up with structures that supported the business sector.

And Mr Kumwenda encouraged entrepreneurs to ensure their businesses were organised and registered with the Patents and Company Registration Agency for protection and development.
