NGOs rally behind North-West expo

- By JACKSON MAPAPAYI

THREE civil society organisations in Solwezi have urged people in North Western Province to take keen interest in participating in the forthcoming exposition.

Chota Foundation, Council of Churches in Zambia and the Young Christian Education Club made the appeal in a joint press statement issued by media liaison coordinator Felix Musanvu.

The three organisations said they were in full support of the hosting of the event.

Mr Musanvu said the expo would  unlock the investment potential of the region which would result in massive development and improve the livelihoods of the people.

“This expo will also create opportunities for the people in North Western Province in the proportioning of business linkages both at local and international community levels,” he said.

Mr Musanvu said there was a need for the people to stand up and embrace the event which was aimed at spurring development.

The expo would positively contribute to alleviating poverty in the province. Mr

Musanvu said the three  organisations were happy with the bold decision taken by Government to act decisively to give the province an opportunity to highlight its investment potential.

He castigated some sections of society who were calling for the postponement of the event saying they did not mean well for the province.

Mr Musanvu  said the three organisations would support the provincial administration in the successful hosting of the expo and that they would not associate themselves with individuals, groups and organisations that had retrograsive ideas towards the hosting of the expo.

This expo will create opportunities for the people in North Western Province in the proportioning of business linkages both at local and international community levels.
