Chanda condemns politics of accusation
NO politician will attain power through disparaging others, United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) president Charles Chanda has said.
Mr Chanda said he was aware of people organizing themselves to discredit his land empowerment policy to deter his effort to uplift the livelihood of Zambians.
He said he would continue to provide solutions to the challenges facing the Zambians as being in politics was not merely about criticising others but providing for the people also.
Mr Chanda’s statement follows a wrangle that has erupted between his estate company and a group of people who allegedly bought plots on his piece of land located near the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
More than 155 are reportedly seeking for refund of their money, amounting to K5million, which they allegedly paid to secure plots on Mr Chanda’s land.
But Mr Chanda said the issue was exaggerated and politically motivated because he was becoming a threat on the political scenario.
He said his company had decided to refund all impatient clients, including the people sponsoring the confusion.
He assured that his land empowerment policy would stay on up to until every Zambian became landlord.
Mr Chanda said over 20 000 citizens were already building houses as a result of his land empowerment policy.
He also disclosed that plans were underway to launch the poverty alleviation program through subsidizing mealie-meal for senior citizens and low income groups.
“It is time power hungry politicians grew up and realized that winning elections is not about bringing down people we feel are a threat. I am very much aware that the noise about the land allocation is a politically planned move and l am fully informed about the people behind it,” he said.
“I have already been called by the police, and as a law abiding citizen, l went to see them. The issue at hand has been in police hands for over a month.
