UPND imports Sesheke thugs - Lungu

- By SILUMESI MALUMO in Katuba

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has instructed police o cers to intensify security in today's Katuba polls as he had information that the UPND had ferried thugs from Sesheke to cause violence in order to stop electorates from voting.

ree political parties are vying for the seat, namely the Patriotic Front, United Party for National Development and United Progress and Prosperous Party.

Mr Lungu said the police should be vigilant so that no act of violence prevailed in the area.

Speaking when he drummed up support for PF candidate Zax Mwachilele at St Peter's grounds yesterday, President Lungu asked police to be vigilant.

e Head of State said the police should ensure that the thugs were arrested for people of Katuba to vote freely.

Mr Lungu said the UPND had imported thugs to repeat what happened in Sesheke and police should not tolerant such evil acts.

"I know that the UPND have imported thugs from Sesheke to come to intimidate the electorates like they did in Sesheke but I want to instruct police o - cers to be vigilant and ensure that no act of violence or intimidation take place in tomorrow's (Today's) elections.

President Lungu however said the ball was in the hands of people of Katuba for development to ourish by voting for the right person.

President Lungu said the area had lagged behind because they had on several occasions voted for a wrong candidate from the opposition.

e Head of State cautioned the electorate from making another mistake because the area would remain under-developed due to resistance from the UPND Members of Parliament to lobby for development because party leader Hakainde Hichilema had warned then never to work with the government.

He said people of Katuba had been given another chance to choose the right candidate.

"People of Katuba the PF have already cooked food for you to eat, don't be cheated by people who are saying that they will cook for you that will not happen, come and eat with the PF so that you don't die from hunger," President Lungu said.
