LET LUNGU TALK – PULE
NO ONE can stop President Edgar Lungu from condemning the economic sabotage being perpetrated by unscrupulous people in Mbabala Constituency in Southern Province because it is derailing development, former minister of Finance Danny Pule has said.
Dr Pule, who is Christian Democratic Party (CDP) president, said President Lungu had a moral right to denounce evil acts targeting development.
He was reacting to remarks by United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema that President Lungu should be
serious with dialogue instead of joking about the economic sabotage in Southern Province.
Dr Pule said no individual could stop the republican President to react like he did especially on the development projects that were being vandalised.
He said Government was spending huge sums of money to accelerate development to all parts of the country and any attempts to sabotage the e orts deserved condemnation.
On Saturday President Lungu said the opposition UPND was engaging people to cut down power lines meant to supply electricity in Southern Province.
President Lungu condemned the vandalism.
Dr Pule said if President saw something wrong in any part of the country it was his responsibility to show leadership.
" e Head of State can't shy away from pointing out what is wrong on the ground,” he said.
After all President Lungu can
be blamed if he does not say anything about the economic sabotage.
“President Lungu cannot keep quiet because he must provide leadership by condemning any kind of evil," Dr Pule said.
He said the meeting Mr Hichilema was calling for was important but it was prudent for the President to condemn wrong acts being perpetrated by unscrupulous individuals.
And Dr Pule said the meeting between President Lungu and Mr Hichilema should be done with good intentions so that it could be in the interest of the nation.
He said it was prudent that interested parties approached the discussion with open minds.
