Switzerlan­d tops Zambia’s export markets

SWITZERLAN­D was the

largest market for Zambia’s

total exports in June 2019, accounting for 42.1 percent, according to the June 2019

Central Statistics Office

(CSO) monthly bulleting report.

According to the report, Asia was the second largest

market for Zambia’s total

exports, accounting for 29.0 percent in June 2019.

“Within this grouping, china was the dominant markets with 85.5 percent. Other notable markets in this grouping were Singapore, Hong Kong, India and United Arab Emirates,” states the report.

The report says the DUALSADC and COMESA grouping was the third largest market

for Zambia’s total exports,

accounting for 18.0 percent in June 2019.

Within this grouping, the report says, Congo DR was the dominant export market, accounting for 28.4 percent, while the other notable markets in this grouping were Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mauritius and the kingdom of Eswatini (formally known as Swaziland).

The report says the SADC

Within this grouping, South Africa was the dominant market with 68.6 percent, other notable market within this grouping were Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique,”

exports, accounting for 1.8 percent in June 2019. With this grouping, Kenya was the dominant market with 64.0 percent, other notable markets were Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and Ethiopia,” the report says.

The report says European Union grouping was the sixth largest market for Zambia’s total exports, accounting for 1.3 percent in June 2019.

Within this grouping, the report says, Luxemburg was the dominant market with 40.8 percent, other notable markets in this grouping were Portugal, Italy, France and Germany.
