PARAMOUNT Chief Chitimukulu has urged newly appointed Northern Province Minister Chungu Bwalya to concentrate on developing the nation and ignore doomsayers.

The traditional leader advised Mr Bwalya not to be distracted by doomsayers as it had been a trend in the area.

He said gossip and lies had led to disharmony, lack of cooperation and coordination among senior government officials in the province.

The Paramount Chief said he was confident that Mr Bwalya would do well as provincial minister because he was a hard worker.

The traditional leader said this when Mr Bwalya with Northern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Captain Davison Mulenga, Kasama District Commissioner Kelly Kashiwa and some PF officials paid a courtesy call on him at his palace in Mungwi District.

He also commended the government for paying farmers on time during the 2018/2019 marketing season.

He said the timely payment had enabled farmers to prepare adequately for the 2019/ 2020 farming season.

The Paramount Chief also appealed to Government to ensure that farming inputs were delivered on time so that farmers did not have challenges during the farming season.

He was concerned with the state of the Nseluka-Kayambi road, Luwingu-Chaba road, Kasama-Mpika road and the Mporokoso-Nsama-Kaputa road.

He said the roads were in a bad state therefore there was urgent need for the government to work on them.

And Mr Bwalya thanked the Paramount Chief for according him an opportunity to meet him and for congratulating him on his appointment.

He assured the traditional leader that he would build on what his predecessor Brian Mundubile had embarked on.

Mr Bwalya said the government was also concerned with bad state of the roads in the area, stating that funds were being sourced for the construction of the roads in question.
