Kalaba ticked off

- By BENNIE MUNDANDO

WE are horrified by Democratic Party (DP) leader Harry Kalaba’s unwarranted and unprovoked attacks on the Head of State by twisting tribal sentiments and imaginary civil service directives, the PF has charged.

Speaking to the Daily nation yesterday, Lusaka Province PF secretary Kennedy Kamba said it had become evident that Mr Kalaba’s solo political career crashed before it even took off and he is now clamouring for attention from the ashes of his self-inflicted wreckage.

He said Mr. Kalaba’s accusation that President Edgar Lungu was a tribalist was hypocritical as it did not have any iota of truth as he and his associates were purposefully turning a blind to the real perpetrators of tribal politics.

“Where were they when it was said only a Tonga could succeed Anderson Mazoka? Where were they when UPND cadres viciously assaulted then Chief Government spokesperson Vernon Johnson Mwaanga at Mazoka’s funeral when the party considered Dr Mwaanga a traitor because he never supported a “Tonga party”?

“And coming back to more recent times, where does it happen that chiefs can attack a sitting President on account of tribe? What would become of Zambia if chiefs from the seven provinces where PF is strong can begin to attack Mr Hichilema?” Mr. Kamba asked

He said despite President Lungu not getting votes from the UPND strongholds, he had continued rolling out infrastructure developmental projects across the country.

And Mr. Kamba said it was naivety of the greatest order for Mr. Kalaba to demonise President Lungu over the retirement age for civil servants when the majority of the Zambians were youths.

“We wish to remind Mr Kalaba of two facts that seem to have escaped him. The majority of our population are youths and Government is the biggest employer.

Our country, therefore, has a huge and energetic youthful human resource base that requires to be harnessed towards national development.
