ESTHER CHONGO:

And I quote,” accidentally switched on the concrete mixer” end of quote. I stand to be corrected by police officers. Can a man be given such a case, “manslaughter” even when it is known as accident? I feel for the man. I can only imagine the trauma he is going through. God come through. Sad. I feel the company should be held responsible here for not putting up safety measures. Sad occurrence there!!!

ABRAHAM MWALE: KENNEDY MUSONDA:

JSA not conducted prior to performing the task (cleaning). Too sad RIP.

MPANSA DAMIANO:

Very sad development, MHSRIP.

BENJAMIN DAKA:

Isolation procedure not followed. Always be safety conscious even working under pressure. Always think of what might go wrong in the task you’re performing. Zambia Sugar has kept the Zero incident, Zero injury, Zero fatality a reality.

SAKALA ANDREW:

It’s because most of these so-called investors are not subjected to Occupational Health and Safety matters in this our land. What a sad occurrence though

MPYANA BANZA: LAWRENCE MAKOMBO:

Very poor or no safety standards at all. How do you carry out maintenance on a machine without proper isolation? That is to lock out and tag out. Sad development. MICHAEL CHANDA: That was an accident not intentional. Should we define an accident for the police? eish I’m hating my country more now. So the police want to protect the company which should be held responsible and persecute a worker. We all know how those Chinese use people maybe some Chinese supervisor told him to start and he didn’t see his colleague.

SAMSON KAMPAMBA:

Where is the safety officer for AVIC? We need standard ways of doing things. Lockout, isolation procedure. R.I.P

CHARLES CHENGO:

LOTOTO, lock out, tag out, try out. You isolate controls when one is working, very poor safety standards indeed and unnecessary loss of life

BANKS NKANDU:

Safety measures have to be implemented because that machine needs proper isolation from the energy source while that man was cleaning the mixer ..lock out procedures need to be adhered to.

DICKSON PHIRI HAMNZ:

Do those workers even go through some safety induction because I believe the mixer was supposed to be disconnected completely from either electricity or engine anyway and if the crushed man was cleaning then what led the other man to start it because it means the job was done that is why it was being cleaned or maybe it was a situation of playing with the machine.

KAMPAMBA CHANDA:

Why not go after the employers for clearly not putting measures in place to ensure machines are isolated before any type of maintenance is carried out?

CHRISTOPHER CHANDA:

Chinese investors are very poor when it comes to safety standards, what has happened does not come as a surprise. There is a need for those institutions charged with responsibility to up the game when it comes to such issues.

PHILLIP LUNGU:

Safety first, the machine was supposed to be isolated from power then do the lockout, this happened in Kankoyo that’s where that plant is.

CHIPANTA SILALUZWE:

Does AVIC have safety procedures for people who are doing such works? Under normal circumstances, the machine is supposed to be disconnected completely from its energy source and lock out procedure applied. Going to work inside a machine like a concrete mixer without applying this procedure is just as good as attempting suicide.

KAPOLESA EDWIN:

How’s that manslaughter? That’s death by misadventure, release the man!
