Pray for leaders, says Gen Sikazwe

- By SANDRA MACHIMA

ZAMBIANS should pray for President Edgar Lungu and all leaders for them to continue leading the nation with divine wisdom, Army Commander Lieutenant General William Sikazwe has said.

Lt-General Sikazwe has pledged 100 percent patriotism to the good order of the country and 100 percent loyalty to the Commander-inChief of the Armed Forces, President Lungu.

Lt-Gen Sikazwe asked all Christians and people of good-will to continue praying for peace and harmony in the country.

He said this during a thanksgiving mass of the Holy Saviour Parish in Kafue.

“I thank President Lungu, our Commander-In-Chief, for authorising me to travel from Lusaka so that I come and pray with you today in Kafue,” Lt-Gen Sikazwe said.

Lt-Gen Sikazwe commended Bishop Hamungole for his work in Zambia and other parts of the world during the past 25 years of service as a Catholic Priest.

Bishop Moses Hamungole has served as Director of Yatsani Radio in Lusaka, Director of Vatican Radio (English and Swahili Service) in Rome Italy, and communications director at the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of East Africa and is serving as chairperson of the communications division of the Zambia Council of Catholic Bishops.

And Bishop Hamungole said all Christians belong to one family of God and should pray for each other and stand together.

Bishop Hamungole took the opportunity to appeal to the congregation for financial assistance for the construction of a new cathedral for Monze Diocese to be called, Holy Trinity Cathedral.

The clergyman oversees the affairs of close to 500, 000 Catholics in Monze Diocese.
